Wedding Date: 27/09/2008
Location: Calamvale, Qld
I was selling Tupperware as an aside to my full time job in which Michael's sister worked with me. As she lived with him at the time, she held a party so we could meet and when I returned for delivery, we arranged our first date.
We went to a New Years Eve cocktail party with some friends at the Rydges Hotel at South Bank and Michael proposed just on midnight overlooking the fireworks.
I wore a white satin strapless dress from Bella Donna. The bodice featured small crystals and pearls and it had buttons on the back of the bodice from the top to the end of the train.
I wore my mother's crystal drop earrings and a bracelet which belonged to my late Nanna which my two sisters also wore on their wedding days.
and Groomsmen's Attire
The groom and groomsmen wore fine black pin stripe suits with pale pink shirts. We bought Michael's suit and hired the groomsmen's suits from Tony Barlow.
Dresses & Accessories:
My sisters wore a two piece top and skirt by Alfred Angelo which was purchased from Anna Marie & Mr John. Sam and Jen from Enhance Hair & Makeup (mobile) made us all look stunning. The girls earrings were hand made by Bella Donna.
Flowers De Lush made our bouquets. Mine was filled with white freesias and roses and minature roses and the girls had the same but in dusty pink and pink. Leanne personally delivered all of the flowers to my house on the day.
Theme & Colours:
We didn't have a theme as such but the colours were chosen from the box of roses I received for our first Valentine's Day. The ribbon on the box was mocha and dusty pink.
Venue & Details:
Our ceremony took place at Hope Island Resort Golf Course in the gardens behind the club house conducted by celebrant Patricia Burns, who also married my two sisters. The weather couldn't have been more perfect!
Venue & Details:
Our reception was held in the gorgeous Fountain Room at Hope Island Resort Golf Course with a delicious three course meal.
My car was a 1959 Thunderbird convertible and the bridesmaids were in a 1964 Thunderbird convertible which were borrowed from friends of my parents.
I made the favours myself using clear boxes filled with pink foiled strawberry Darrell Lea chocolates wrapped in mocha ribbon.
Deliberately Delicious made our two tiered square cake. The bottom layer was a mud cake which was quilted with diamontes and a gluten free fruit cake on top. The fresh flowers were by Flowers De Lush.
Our wedding package included the DJ.
We stayed at the Shangri-La Resort in Fiji for 6 nights. It was very relaxing and the people are just gorgeous and so friendly. We quickly understood what Fiji time meant!
The entire day was a special memory for me. The nerves, the butterflies, the excitement and that Michael had 'something in his eye' when I walked down the isle was precious. The moment when I married the love of my life is something I will treasure forever.
Brides to Be:
My advice is to take a moment on the night to sit back in your chair and look around the room with all your friends and family enjoying themselves and savour the moment as it will be gone in the blink of an eye.
