Sarah-Rose Jarvinen's Wedding Blog - Brides in Brisbane Feature Blog

Hi there everyone

I apologise about the delay in blogs alot of exciting things have happened since my last blog. Most exciting of which is our new puppy boy lab Max.

Our baby boy Max

So excited to have him home. We’ve been busy toilet training and learning to sit and lay down and roll over.

As for the wedding I thought I might fill you all in on my search for the gown. I’ve never been a girl thats dreamed about the big day so I had no idea what type of dress I wanted. So I thought it best to try everything and anything I thought I might like and even some I didn’t like. And well to my surprise the gown I fell in love with is well its a princess gown (only way I can describe it) Corset top with a big skirt. I’d give more details but I don’t want hubby to be to get any ideas haha.

I started my hunt with a day in the city with my gorgeous mum. We went from bridal store to bridal store. I must have tried on aleast 50 dresses. It wasn’t until my mum and I was returning from a trip to the coast for a girls day out, where we saw a big sign along the high way for luv bridal. As it was the end of the day we decided to check it out online and see what it was like. I fell in love with so many of the dresses and organised a day trip with my mum and sister to check it out.

The following weekend we all headed off after boot camp and checked it out. The staff where all so lovely and welcoming and understood when I said I really didn’t know what I wanted. They helped me pick out a large range of different dresses to try that would suit my body type. After trying on a few the manager asked if I would mind trying on a new dress they just got in. Of course I said yes. The moment I saw myself in it in the mirror I knew it was the one! Finally dress found!!

As we had sucessfully found my dress my mum decided that it was my sisters turn to try on dresses and so the lovely staff brought out a few bridesmaids dresses for her to try on. My sister is a girl who knows what she likes and well i wasn’t sure we were going to find one that we could agree on and then if we did that the other bridesmaids would but i was worrying over nothing the first dress she tried she loved. We had her try a few more on but just loved that one. So with that dress in the yes box we just had to see if the other bridesmaids loved it too and if it suited. Another weekend later we were back with all the gorgeous bridesmaids and to my relief they loved it too! Sucess!!!!

Well Max is looking a tad bored so I’m going to log of here and stop him from chewing shoes!

Peace love and harmony to you all

Until next time

Hey there everyone

I can’t believe there is only 280 days to go. It doesn’t sound that long when you put it in days. I think my partner Ryan is trying not to think about it like alot of boys he just keeps saying ” Its your day do what you like”. Ah no help!

Like I stated in my last blog entry I’ve sorted quite alot heres a little bit of the planning process!

The first step was to get the date like I said in my last blog, the boys at work hassled me and one night I sat Ryan down and said lets just set a date and then everyone will stop bugging us (his mum was hassling him constantly), he tried to get out of it but we ended up nutting it out. Ryan straight up wanted for it to be next year (because he wanted to be married before the big 30 which is the end of next year). Then we choose a season we ruled winter and summer out (a girl doesn’t want her make up melting off or to freeze!)  we decided on Autumn! and with that March was our month.  Then to pick a day, we decided we wanted to have the wedding on a Friday! and the 25th as just fitted in! So there we had it ! 25th March 2011!!

Once we had the date we talked about who we wanted in the wedding party and well we both knew who we wanted our best friends and of course my gorgeous sister and my second youngest brother. It has been the easiest part so far haha.

We are both pretty quite people and both of us knew we didn’t want the big wedding, just close family and our best friends. So the next task was to find the right location. I wanted to be near the beach and well we needed to find somewhere that would take our little number!

I found two places that I liked one at the gold coast and the other one at Margate. My mum and I went to the Golden Ox at Margate and fell in love with it!! They are so helpful and they well they do weddings! Then I went with my sister to the other venue and well was disappointed! So the Ox was booked!

So thats a quick update on some of the plans so far!

Wishing everyone the best with their own plans, until next time

Peace love and happiness to you all

Hey there

My name is Sarah-Rose. My boy and I have been together for four and a half years. We have been living together for the last 4 years and have 2 cats (Henry and Isabella).

Last November we went and stayed at salt at kingscliffe to celebrate our 4th anniversary and the night before our anniversary we had dinner at the hotel restraunt. It was amazing I’ll never forget it! After an amazing dinner we went for a lovely walk along the beach, we were the only ones on there. We were walking and talking and then suddenly my boy spun me around and blurted a jumble sentance ” Will you ah where is it ah there marry me?” and to such I replied ” you idiot” followed by a kiss and a big old “YES OF COURSE”. After that we went up to the hotel room where I had my gift for him (I had planned to ask him the same question a girl can’t wait forever when she knows what she wants hehe). He loved the ring as much as I loved mine.

It wasn’t until after christmas that we started concidering the wedding.. One day after being hasselled by the boys at work I bugged my boy and got a date out of him. With the date set I started with the planning!

So far we have found our wedding location (The Golden Ox), celebrant (Renee), my dress, my bridesmaids dresses. And am struggling to find the perfect photographer.

I’m learning no matter how organised you think you are there is always something you forget to ask!
